Japanese Mahjong is an engaging game that follows the traditional Japanese style rules. To play, you'll use the slider at the bottom of the screen to select tiles, and then tap to discard them. The objective is to complete your hand with four Melds and one Pair.
For example, a valid hand might look like this: [1, 2, 3][6, 6, 6][6, 7, 8][N, N, N][4, 4]. However, be aware that certain hands are not valid if you use Chi, Pon, or Open Kan. Specifically, hands involving 1 and 9 in Chi and Pon may not be approved.
In Japanese Mahjong, you need at least one valid hand. You can declare a Reach by paying 1,000 points, which helps you form a hand. Note that you cannot declare Reach if you've used Chi, Pon, or Open Kan. A closed hand, one that hasn't used these actions, can yield higher points.
Understanding the concept of a Lost Hand is crucial. A Lost Hand occurs when you're Waiting but cannot win off another player's discard because you've already discarded a winning tile yourself. Even with a Lost Hand, you can still win by self-drawing. The key is to never let the other players Ron (win) with a tile you've discarded. Always strategize based on the other players' discards to win the game.
