May 2025 PS Plus Game Linked to Hollywood Movie Release

Author : Nathan May 03,2025

It seems that a potential leak has surfaced regarding one of the PlayStation Plus games for May 2025. While Sony has not yet confirmed anything, rumors are circulating that the teen slasher horror game Until Dawn might be available as a free download for PlayStation users during that month. The promotional art suggests it could be the Until Dawn Remastered edition rather than the original 2014 release, but we'll provide a definitive update once we have official confirmation.

PlayStation Plus is a comprehensive online gaming service for PlayStation platforms, offering a range of benefits to its subscribers. These include free monthly games, limited-time trials, access to online multiplayer, and member-exclusive discounts. Additionally, Extra and Premium members enjoy access to a vast catalog of current and classic games, while the monthly free games are accessible to all subscribers, regardless of their tier.

Speculation within the PlayStation subreddit community, as highlighted by PushSquare, suggests this move could be a promotional tactic tied to the recent release of the Until Dawn movie. Unfortunately, the movie did not meet expectations, earning a disappointing 5/10 in IGN's Until Dawn movie review, which noted that "Until Dawn is more disappointing than deadly, leaving all the promise of the horror game behind for a jumble of horror-movie re-creations."

Similarly, IGN's review of Until Dawn Remastered awarded it a 5/10, describing the game as an "overpriced and under-featured remake that seems less like a must-have bit of moonlit murder and something closer to daylight robbery." In contrast, the original 2015 game from Supermassive Games received a more favorable 7.5/10 from IGN.

In other PlayStation Plus news, 22 games are scheduled to be removed from the service's library next month. This includes popular titles such as Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. As a result, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be available on modern consoles.
