Alienware's Area-51 Now Supports RTX 5090 Graphics Card

Author : Zoe May 14,2025

Dell has recently revitalized the iconic Alienware Area-51 series of prebuilt gaming PCs. Initially, these systems were limited to a single graphics card option—the RTX 5080. However, a significant upgrade is now available. Starting today, you can customize your Alienware Area-51 with a formidable Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU paired with the highly anticipated Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, priced from $5,499.99. What's more, Dell promises a swift delivery, with systems expected to ship by early April.

Priced at $5,499.99 at Alienware, the "base" configuration of the Alienware Area-51 equipped with the RTX 5090 GPU packs a punch. You get an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, which is Intel's latest flagship, offering top-tier performance for both gaming and workstation tasks. While it doesn't leap as far ahead as the i9-14900K, it's the best Intel has to offer right now. The system is cooled efficiently with a 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a robust 1,500W 80Plus Platinum-rated power supply. It also comes with 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM and a spacious 2TB NVMe SSD, ensuring you have all the power and storage you need for your gaming adventures.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

At CES 2025, Dell introduced the revamped Alienware Area-51 gaming PC. The new chassis retains the iconic look of the 2024 R16 model but features significant updates in aesthetics and cooling. The I/O panel has been relocated to the top of the case, and the tempered glass window now extends across the entire side panel, enhancing the visual appeal and improving airflow. The side panel vents have been eliminated, with air intakes now positioned at the bottom and front of the case, promoting a positive airflow design that helps keep the system dust-free. The internal components have been upgraded with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest generation of CPUs and GPUs.

The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever

----------------------------------------------------

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 is currently the most powerful consumer GPU available. Despite Nvidia's focus on software enhancements, AI features, and DLSS 4 technology, the RTX 5090 still delivers a significant 25%-30% increase in raster performance compared to the RTX 4090. It also boasts 32GB of faster GDDR7 VRAM, a step up from the 24GB GDDR6 in the RTX 4090. Due to high demand, the RTX 5090 is hard to find at its retail price, often selling for between $3,500 and $4,000 on eBay.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas:

"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, albeit with a smaller generational leap than we've seen in the past. For traditional gaming without AI assistance, the performance gain is modest. However, in games that leverage DLSS 4, the performance boost is substantial—although it comes with the caveat that 75% of the frames are AI-generated."
