Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards have returned to their launch prices, including popular models from Asus. The budget-friendly Asus Prime series has been at MSRP for some time, and now the next tier is following suit. Amazon is currently offering Prime members the Asus TUF RTX 5070 12GB graphics card for just $549 with free shipping. The Asus TUF model is a step up from the Prime series, featuring military-grade components and a more advanced cooling solution. This particular version is also factory-overclocked, ensuring better performance out of the box.

In terms of performance, the RTX 5070 is comparable to the previous-generation RTX 4070 Super. While we hoped for a more significant generational leap in raw power, the RTX 4070 Super was already a solid choice for 1080p and 1440p gaming. Since the RTX 4070 Super has been discontinued, it's mainly available on the used market. The RTX 5070 supports DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation, which gives it an edge in supported titles like Wuchang: Fallen Feathers and Doom: The Dark Ages.

The Asus TUF model features a robust 3.125-slot heatsink, noticeably larger than the 2.5-slot design on the Prime series, along with higher-quality fans. Its standout feature is the use of military-grade components—specifically capacitors, chokes, and MOSFETs—which Asus claims enhance system stability. This model is pre-overclocked to 2,542MHz in OC mode, offering roughly a 100MHz boost over the standard Asus Prime. While this translates to only a 3–5% performance gain, it also indicates that the TUF cards are binned to meet higher quality standards.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 12GB Graphics Card Review by Jacqueline Thomas

"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 is a mixed bag. It delivers on its promise of smooth 1440p gaming at high frame rates, but it doesn't significantly outperform the RTX 4070 Super or other cards in this price range. The addition of Multi Frame Generation is a welcome feature for high-refresh-rate monitor owners, though it alone may not justify an upgrade."
