Beloved Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, known for his roles in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and numerous other titles, has shared a moving message of gratitude following a near-fatal incident. Last week, he was found "barely alive" in his Atlanta hotel room.
A video posted on a GoFundMe page, which has already raised over $174,000 for his medical expenses, reveals Johnson was in a coma. He expressed his overwhelming gratitude for the outpouring of support: "I found out there's a lot of love in this world that I didn't know was out there, and I'm grateful to each and every one of you."
Johnson, also a Washington Capitals announcer, was in Atlanta for a National Alzheimer's Foundation benefit. His absence raised concerns, leading his wife to contact the hotel. Security personnel and EMTs found him with a barely detectable pulse.
He recounted the ordeal: "Rumors of my demise weren't exaggerated. It was very close. But I'm still here because my wife called the hotel, my son contacted security, and they discovered I was nearly dead. They rushed me to the hospital, and I was in a coma for five days." He credits the swift action of his family and friends, including Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker, who established the GoFundMe campaign.
Johnson extended heartfelt thanks to the National Alzheimer's Association for supporting his family, to Ted Leonsis (Washington Capitals parent company chairman) for a substantial donation, and to Glasser and Elliker. He also expressed deep appreciation for Bethesda's public show of support, stating, "You say that I'm your friend. I am. Always will be. Love you guys." Finally, he addressed his fans, both donors and those offering support: "I love you all. I'm not going anywhere. It's going to be a while as I work my way back, but I'm coming back."
Johnson's extensive voice acting credits span film, television, and video games, with a significant portion dedicated to Bethesda titles. His recent work includes Ron Hope in Starfield, and he's also voiced iconic characters like Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance in Oblivion, multiple Daedric Princes in Morrowind, Fawkes and Maister Burke in Fallout 3, and many more.
