YouTuber Super Cafe documented his journey in a video released on April 8, detailing his flight over 800 miles to be the first in line on the west coast for both the store's opening on May 15 and the much-anticipated release of the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025.
Super Cafe, who has only been in his new apartment for two months, admitted that his decision to camp out might not be the wisest financially. "Terrible financial decision on my end. Whatever, who cares," he remarked, showcasing his determination to be at the forefront of this historic launch.
This isn't the first time a Nintendo store has seen such dedication; the New York store also has a camper waiting for the Switch 2. Super Cafe, mostly going solo, has even invited others interested in joining him at the San Francisco opening to get in touch. He plans to address questions about his accommodations, food, showers, and other necessities in a future Q&A.
The tradition of camping out for major Nintendo releases, particularly new consoles, is a long-standing one. With both coastal Nintendo stores now having their own dedicated campers, it remains to be seen if this will spark a trend of others joining the line. These creators are certainly showing their commitment to being first in line for the Nintendo Switch 2.
