Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Developers Exploring Switch 2 Port
Says It "Could Be Interesting"
Following the remarkable success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, developer Sandfall Interactive is considering a release on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. In a recent interview with French YouTuber mistermv on May 2, Expedition 33 Director Guillaume Broche discussed the studio's future plans post-launch.
Broche acknowledged the game's success, stating, "Well, at this point, considering the success of the game, it kind of changes everything." He emphasized that the team is now in a position to explore various new opportunities.
When questioned about a potential Switch 2 release, Broche expressed openness to the idea, saying, "So clearly, it's too early to say, but we're kind of in a situation where... let's say there are a lot of opportunities showing up - way too many at once - and we're figuring out what we'll go for and what we won't. But yeah, it's definitely something that could be interesting."
Given the imminent launch of the Switch 2, it makes sense that the year's top-rated game might also make its way to Nintendo's latest handheld console. Fans eagerly await confirmation on whether they'll be able to experience the Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG on the new device.
No Official Merchandise…Yet!
Amid the flurry of opportunities, Sandfall Interactive has also received requests for official merchandise, particularly for a plush of the beloved character Esquie. Currently, the studio has not released any official merchandise, and they have warned fans about counterfeit products circulating online. In a tweet on May 14, they clarified, "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed."
They further cautioned that many of these bootleg items feature AI-generated artwork, which they strongly advise against purchasing, as they may also be scams. However, Sandfall is actively working on creating official Esquie plushies.
Their tweet continued, "But here’s the wheee to balance out the whooo: we are looking into making official Esquie plushies, and we want to bring them to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!"
