- What the Golf? What the Car? And now, What the Clash?
- Yes, the brilliant team at Triband is back with another wild creation
- Challenge a friend (for now) to a variety of 1v1 minigames
When it comes to humorous video games, Triband has built an impressive track record. Whether it's What the Golf? or What the Car?, this developer consistently finds innovative ways to put fresh spins on familiar genres. It's no surprise then that competitive 1v1 multiplayer is their latest focus.
The basic idea behind What the Clash? is straightforward. It's a collection of minigames, similar in style to titles like Mario Party. You'll face off against another player in activities ranging from table tennis (with a mechanical twist) to snowboarding. You can climb the leaderboards and even participate in tournaments. I realize this might sound a bit too conventional for Triband.
This is where the twist comes into play – literally. You're controlling a hand. Yes, a hand with a body. The resulting physics-based comedy that emerges from trying to maneuver them adds both challenge and hilarity to every match. Combine that with various modifiers that can transform standard Archery into Toasty Archery, and you're guaranteed experiences far from ordinary.
Clash the AppleLaunching on May 1st, What the Clash? looks like another genuinely entertaining addition to the What the...? series. However, if you were hoping to play it on Android or standard iOS, you might be disappointed. Much like Triband's previous releases, What the Clash? will be an Apple Arcade exclusive.
That said, for many players, this could be the compelling reason to finally try Apple's content-rich gaming subscription service.
