According to Deadline, Warner Bros.' previously shelved film, Coyote vs. Acme, may find its way to audiences after all. Los Angeles-based independent film company Ketchup Entertainment is reportedly in deep negotiations to acquire the completed movie, which was initially thought to be entirely scrapped.

While the deal has not yet been finalized, a successful negotiation could lead to a theatrical release of Coyote vs. Acme in 2026. Announced in 2022, the film is based on Ian Frazier's 1990 New Yorker article of the same name and was co-written by James Gunn. It stars Will Forte and John Cena and was originally slated for a mid-2023 release on Max. Despite having completed filming, the project was shelved, sparking a concerted campaign to save it.

PlayKetchup Entertainment has a track record of rescuing films from similar fates, having recently saved Warner Bros.’ *The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie*. They secured its theatrical release in the US, marking it as the first fully animated Looney Tunes movie to hit cinemas. IGN praised it as a "laugh-out-loud riot."

Ketchup Entertainment's portfolio also includes Hellboy: The Crooked Man and the Robert Rodriguez thriller Hypnotic, starring Ben Affleck. Additionally, the company co-produced Michael Mann's 2023 biopic, Ferrari.
