The much-anticipated Days Gone Remastered is on the horizon, and Sony's Bend Studio has recently shared exciting details about the accessibility features set to enhance the player experience. One of the standout features is the option to adjust Game Speed, allowing players to slow down the action when things get intense. This feature aims to cater to those who might find high-pressure scenarios challenging.
In a recent PlayStation Blog post, Kevin McAllister, Bend Studio's Creative & Product Lead, elaborated on the diverse accessibility options coming with Days Gone Remastered. Players will be able to tweak the Game Speed from 100% down to 75%, 50%, and even 25%. McAllister explained, "Game Speed is ideal for players who might feel overwhelmed in certain situations or have difficulty with various inputs in high pressure moments, specifically fighting off hordes of Freakers. Hordes are a pillar in Days Gone gameplay and with our new Horde Assault mode arriving in the remaster, we wanted to make this unique combat experience more accessible to our players."
Beyond Game Speed, Days Gone Remastered will also introduce a range of other accessibility enhancements. These include customizable subtitle colors, a High Contrast Mode, UI Narration, and Collectible Audio Cues. Additionally, the auto-complete QTE feature, which was previously exclusive to Easy difficulty, will now be available across all difficulty settings from Easy to Survival II.
While these features are set to debut with Days Gone Remastered, Bend Studio has also confirmed that most of these accessibility improvements will be rolled out to the PC version of Days Gone. However, some features, like feedback and customization control options, will necessitate a compatible controller.
Days Gone Remastered was officially unveiled in February, promising not only enhanced accessibility but also new gameplay modes like an improved photo mode, permadeath, and speedrun options. This remastered version of the 2019 post-apocalyptic zombie action-adventure game, centered around a biker in a world overrun by Freakers, is set to launch on April 25, 2025. Owners of the PS4 version of Days Gone can upgrade to the PS5 remastered edition for just $10.
