Boss fights can be daunting, especially when you're not fully prepared for what lies ahead. In *The First Berserker: Khazan*, players need to navigate through complex boss encounters, such as the challenging battle with the Blade Phantom. Here’s a detailed guide on how to conquer this formidable foe in *The First Berserker: Khazan*.
Phase 1

The Blade Phantom emerges in the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level on Stormpass, a manifestation of the ghostly voices that have haunted Khazan. This boss tests your ability to balance stamina management and aggressive tactics against its relentless onslaught. The Blade Phantom introduces players to multi-phase battles, adding an extra layer of complexity to the fight.
The battle begins in a castle with floors flooded with crimson liquid. The Blade Phantom employs various attacks:
- A six-hit combo consisting of four punches and two kicks, with the second kick delayed.
- A three-hit combo with two punches and a downward kick.
- A four-hit combo starting with a right hook followed by two kicks and ending with a leaping kick smash.
- A three-hit combo of flashing punches, followed by a grab that you must dodge.
In addition to these melee attacks, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer in *The First Berserker: Khazan*, which it slams down to deal damage and spawn red spikes. If it uses a spear, be prepared for a quick throw followed by a teleporting smash that you need to avoid. With a blade, it executes a swift six-hit combo. It can also vanish and dash around the battlefield before launching an attack.
Mastering the timing of these attacks is crucial for parrying or dodging, allowing you to strike back and reduce its stamina for a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until the Blade Phantom's health is halved, triggering the second phase.
Phase 2

The second phase kicks off with the Blade Phantom unleashing four claw attacks, followed by a spear throw from above. Move away from the impact area and brace for a leaping swipe. Next come three greatsword slashes and a concluding hammer smash.
While the new claw attacks are added, the Blade Phantom retains many of its Phase 1 moves, including a spear thrust with a follow-up, and swift dual-wielding attacks ranging from four to six hits. Teleportation becomes more frequent, and when equipped with the greatsword, be cautious of multiple slashes leading to a final Burst Attack, indicated by a red P-like symbol. To counter this, use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry effectively, restoring your stamina and exposing the boss to further attacks.
Exploit the Blade Phantom’s stamina depletion to launch a Brutal Attack, ideally when the window for attack is almost closed to maximize damage. Successfully defeating the Blade Phantom rewards you with 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
