Marvel Rivals Season 1: A New York City Nightmare – Exploring the Maps
Marvel Rivals' first season continues to expand its offerings, introducing a wave of new maps themed around a nocturnal New York City, alongside the Fantastic Four heroes and cosmetic additions. Let's delve into each map:
Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown
Launched at the start of Season 1, this Convoy map sets the stage for payload-style gameplay. Players either escort or intercept a moving vehicle across a dark, Dracula-infused Midtown Manhattan. This is the third Convoy map in Rivals, joining Yggsgard: Yggdrasill Path and Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands. Iconic locations like the Baxter Building, Grand Central Terminal, Stark/Avengers Tower, Fisk Tower, Ardmore’s Bookstore, and Timely Trend are featured within this nightmarish landscape.
Empire of Eternal Night: The Mystical Sanctum Santorum
This unique map, a dark interpretation of Doctor Strange's Sanctum Santorum, is the exclusive home to the Doom Match mode – a free-for-all deathmatch. The top players earn victory, with the best overall player crowned MVP. This beautifully rendered version of the iconic location, first seen in a 1963 comic and famously featured in the MCU, is brimming with secrets, impossible architecture, portals, and even a visitable Bats the Ghost Dog.
Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park
Expected to arrive later in Season 1, this map features a stylized Belvedere Castle, situated at one of Central Park's highest points. This Gothic structure provides a fitting backdrop for the "Empire of Eternal Night" theme, potentially serving as a hideout for Dracula within the game's version of New York City. The map's design draws inspiration from the park's appearances in various Marvel properties, most recently in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (2023).
These are all the confirmed new maps for Marvel Rivals Season 1. Stay tuned for updates on the release of Central Park!
