While eagerly awaiting the release of DOOM: The Dark Ages, many are revisiting the classic DOOM games. Good news! A recent update for the DOOM + DOOM 2 compilation has significantly enhanced the experience.
This update boasts improved technical performance and more. Crucially, it now supports multiplayer modifications created using Vanilla DOOM, DeHackEd, MBF21, or BOOM. Cooperative gameplay has been enhanced with shared item pickup and an observer mode for players awaiting revival. Multiplayer network code has also received optimization. The mod loader's capacity has been increased, now handling over 100 subscribed mods.
Looking ahead to DOOM: The Dark Ages, accessibility is a key focus. The game will offer extensive customization options, surpassing previous id Software titles. Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasized the commitment to accessibility.
Players will have granular control over enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, damage received, and various other parameters, including game pace, enemy aggression, and parry timing. Stratton also confirmed that prior DOOM experience isn't necessary to understand the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages and DOOM: Eternal.
