Dragon Age: The Veilguard Surprise Free Weapon DLC Released After Months

Author : Amelia Jul 08,2025

BioWare may have largely shifted its focus away from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but a final surprise has arrived in the form of a small—but appreciated—DLC weapons pack.

Fans were caught off guard when Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s Steam page quietly received an update listing the new free content titled the Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer. While it's minimal, the addition is still warmly welcomed, especially after EA had previously indicated that future support for the game would be limited. With the game’s fifth patch back in January stating that updates would center around fixing critical bugs, any fresh content feels like a rare treat—even if it's purely cosmetic.

There’s no official description detailing what’s inside the bundle, but the community has uncovered that it includes a collection of Watchful skins available through the Rook’s in-game room. It remains unknown whether this content will be extended to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S players.

One Steam review humorously notes, “Even if these appearances aren't the most, uh, beautiful things ever, they do give spooky eldritch horror vibes!”

Another player on Reddit added, “It's cosmetic DLC, but it's essentially free DLC for a game that's practically no longer getting new content. I'll live with that.”

AnswerSee Results*Dragon Age: The Veilguard* launched to generally positive reviews from critics last October. However, EA stated that the title didn’t “resonate with a broad enough audience.” By late January, many key team members had departed BioWare, either leaving the company entirely or transitioning to other projects. At the time, EA confirmed to IGN that the studio was shifting its “full focus” to the next Mass Effect title.

Despite the reduced development attention, Dragon Age: The Veilguard made its way into the PlayStation Plus March 2025 lineup, just four months after release. No further plans for the game’s post-launch support have been officially announced.
