Author : Zachary May 20,2025

The Pointer Sisters’ track "Hot Together" has experienced a dramatic surge in Spotify streams after being featured in the newly released trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, which debuted just yesterday. In the mere two hours following the trailer's premiere, global streams of the 1986 hit skyrocketed by an astonishing 182,000%. Although Spotify's figures haven't been updated since yesterday, "Hot Together" currently stands at just over 250,000 streams, a number that is expected to climb significantly in the coming days.

“Grand Theft Auto cuts through popular culture like almost nothing else,” stated Sulinna Ong, Spotify’s Global Head of Editorial. “Music has been synonymous with the series since the very beginning, so it’s great to see fans both new and established connecting with an iconic track in this way.”

The Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer, unveiled 24 hours ago by Rockstar Games, has already garnered an impressive 77.7 million views on YouTube as of this writing. The surge in popularity for "Hot Together" is remarkable but not unexpected. When the first trailer for Rockstar's latest installment was revealed in late 2023, it featured Tom Petty’s "Love Is A Long Road," which also saw a significant increase in Spotify streams. The song's inclusion sparked numerous fan theories about its potential ties to the game’s narrative, though no such speculation has yet arisen for "Hot Together."

As fans eagerly await the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, which has been recently delayed to May 26, 2026, Rockstar is providing them with plenty of engaging music to enjoy in the interim. In the meantime, enthusiasts can delve into some of the most intriguing fan theories surrounding Trailer 2, as well as explore our detailed list of 89 hidden elements Rockstar cleverly embedded within the video.
