Key enhancements include ray-traced reflections, updated vehicle designs, and numerous smaller tweaks that significantly boost the game's visual quality. The popular YouTube channel GameV recently released a side-by-side comparison video, demonstrating the graphical evolution over the last 12 years. The most noticeable improvements occur during rainy nights or in shadowy environments, where the advanced global illumination and ray-traced reflections make a substantial impact. However, in bright, sunny conditions, the differences between the original and the enhanced version are less distinct.
Despite the impressive launch, which saw over 187,000 concurrent players on Steam, surpassing the recent peak of 184,000 for the standard edition, the reception has been mixed. Currently, the game holds a 56% positive review rating on Steam. Many players have questioned the necessity of this update due to the relatively subtle visual enhancements. There have also been criticisms regarding issues with DualSense functionality and glitches encountered when transferring characters from the original GTA Online.
