Harrison Ford: 'Indiana Jones Proves AI Isn't Needed to Capture My Soul'

Author : Lucas May 13,2025

Harrison Ford, the iconic actor behind the legendary character Indiana Jones, recently shared his thoughts on the transition of the character to video games. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, Ford expressed his satisfaction with Troy Baker's portrayal of Indiana Jones in the video game "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle." Ford humorously remarked, "You don’t need artificial intelligence to steal my soul. You can already do it for nickels and dimes with good ideas and talent. He did a brilliant job, and it didn’t take AI to do it."

Released in December, "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle" is described as an "authentic" addition to the franchise, though it may not be considered canonical. This release comes on the heels of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" in 2023, which did not fare well with audiences. Given the positive reception of the game, the creative team behind the franchise might be encouraged to explore further in this direction rather than relying on Ford to reprise his role.

Ford, who has also starred in Star Wars and is set to appear in Marvel projects, joins a chorus of creatives voicing concerns about the use of artificial intelligence in media. Notable figures like Tim Burton have labeled AI-generated art as "very disturbing," while Nicolas Cage has called it a "dead end." The issue extends to voice acting, where actors like Ned Luke from "Grand Theft Auto 5" and Doug Cockle from "The Witcher" have criticized AI for potentially robbing them of income. Luke has spoken out against a chatbot using his voice, and Cockle has described AI as "inevitable" but "dangerous."
