Having your own house at the tender age of 18 might seem like a dream—a symbol of independence and a personal space before you can legally enjoy a drink in the US. However, in the case of Your House, this dream can quickly turn into a nightmare. This seemingly cozy abode hides a dark and sinister side that players will soon uncover.
In this gripping text-based adventure, you step into the shoes of Debbie, an 18-year-old who, on her birthday, faces expulsion from school, betrayal by her best friend, and a harrowing accident with a car. With her life in shambles, Debbie receives a mysterious key and a letter beckoning her to the titular house. Driven by curiosity and desperation, she embarks on a journey to unravel the chilling secrets within.
As Debbie, you'll confront over dozens of escape room-style puzzles, each designed to test your ingenuity and resolve. The stakes are high, especially with a mysterious figure lurking on the sidewalk, watching your every move. You must use all your wits to ensure Debbie's survival and escape from this eerie residence.
While I may have painted Your House as more sinister than it perhaps is, there's no denying the spooky atmosphere that permeates this puzzle game. As you explore the various nooks and crannies of your new home, you'll encounter a blend of intriguing visuals and compelling text-based narration that make the experience well worth exploring.
Be prepared for some intense tapping, as the game may require a bit of patience. Although Catherine's review praised Your House, she noted that the gameplay could be a bit demanding. Yet, if you're willing to take your time and meticulously examine each screen, you'll find the slow-burn pace rewarding.
