Hungry Horrors Demo Launches on Steam, Mobile Next

Hungry Horrors is an offbeat roguelite deckbuilder from UK-based Clumsy Bear Studio that offers a fresh twist—instead of battling monsters, you must cook for them and curb their appetites. A playable demo is now available on Steam.

Following its PC launch, Clumsy Bear Studio plans to bring Hungry Horrors to mobile and console platforms. Although an official release date hasn't been announced, the demo is accessible via Steam, Itch, and GOG. The developers have actively engaged in community showcases, including the London Game Festival 2025.

The demo provides a satisfying preview of the full game, featuring two handcrafted biomes, six ravenous monsters to serve, two boss encounters, and four NPCs to interact with. Peaceful locations like the Nook and the Trove allow you to regroup and refine your menu.

More About Hungry Horrors

As a princess, your mission is to cook traditional British and Irish meals to pacify hungry folklore creatures—or risk becoming their next course. The game cleverly mixes deckbuilding mechanics with culinary themes.

Boasting retro pixel-art visuals and gothic charm, the standout feature is its quirky humor. You’ll prepare dishes like Bara Brith and Cranachan, aiming to satisfy each monster’s specific tastes.

Some of these beings have haunted folklore for centuries. Meet Jenny Greenteeth, a bloodthirsty swamp witch, or Black Annis, a child-snatching hag with iron claws. If your cooking disappoints, you could wind up as their next meal.

Learn the food preferences of each creature, from Grendel to Redcap. While one adores sweets, another might recoil at fish.

The deckbuilding system lets you mix ingredients and kitchen tools—such as spices and herbs—to enhance your recipes. Strategic thinking is key as you balance flavors and plan your dishes.

Progress unlocks new recipes, ingredients, legendary artifacts, and rescued familiars. Visit the Steam page to explore more.
