Hyper Light Breaker: How to Get New Weapons

Author : Chloe Feb 21,2025

Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal, and a strong weapon is crucial for any successful build. While starting with basic equipment, players unlock opportunities to acquire more effective weapons tailored to their preferred playstyles. This game blends roguelike and extraction game elements, resulting in a unique approach to weapon acquisition. Here's how to obtain new weapons in Hyper Light Breaker:

Acquiring New Weapons

Explore Overgrowths to discover new gear. While exploration naturally yields new items, focusing on sword (Blades) or pistol (Rails) icons on the map directly leads to weapon discoveries.

Blades are melee weapons with varied movesets and special abilities, while Rails are ranged weapons, each possessing unique functionalities. Both weapon types come in different rarities, with gold being the most powerful. As expected, rarer weapons possess superior stats.

To store weapons found in Overgrowths for later use, select the Cache option instead of Equip. These cached weapons can then be equipped before starting subsequent runs by adjusting your loadout.

Obtaining New Starting Weapons

Beyond acquiring weapons during runs, players can purchase new starting weapons from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is accessible. To unlock the Rails merchant, gather sufficient materials to repair their shop.

Merchants maintain limited stock, but their inventories refresh periodically. If initial offerings are unsatisfactory, check back later for new items.

Weapon Upgrades

Upgrade weapons at the Outpost merchants after unlocking the upgrade function. This requires increasing your affinity with the merchants by collecting Golden Rations. These rations are obtained through exploration or cycle resets and are a relatively scarce resource, so use them judiciously.

Upon death, equipped weapons lose a segment of durability (indicated by the bar below their icons). Repeated deaths will eventually break the weapon.
