The game doesn't provide much guidance on these resources, leaving players to discover them through trial and error. Where to Get Golden Rations
In the early access version of Hyper Light Breaker, there are two primary methods to acquire Golden Rations: exploration and cycle resets. During your runs, keep an eye out for chest icons on the map. These chests often contain resources that can be used for purchases or unlocking upgrades, and they may hold Golden Rations. You'll recognize a chest with Golden Rations by the distinctive Golden Ration icon displayed above it.
Areas marked with Prisms, identified by the golden diamond icon on the map, typically have chests nearby that contain Golden Rations.
The second method involves cycle resets. A cycle in Hyper Light Breaker corresponds to each instance of the Overgrowth, and it resets when your Rez count hits zero. Once you're out of revives, you can choose to retry the map at the cost of resources or reset the cycle entirely at the Cursed Outpost. After a cycle reset, you'll be scored, and ranking up can reward you with Golden Rations.
What are Golden Rations For?
Golden Rations are essential materials in Hyper Light Breaker that players need to progress. They are primarily used at the home base to unlock permanent upgrades for your characters or to access new services from vendors.
Moreover, Golden Rations are necessary to unlock Sycoms, which define your chosen Breaker's stats and core passive ability. Sycoms are crucial as they shape your Breaker's playstyle, making them highly valuable.
We recommend using your first Golden Ration to purchase the extra medkit upgrade from Pherus Bit. This upgrade can make future runs easier, as the game can be quite challenging and unforgiving during combat.
If you die during a run, you'll retain any resources you've collected. However, the weapons, amps, and perks you carried will suffer one pip's worth of damage, which could lead to their permanent destruction.
