In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the side quest "Bad Blood" offers a deep dive into the lives of the game's characters, providing both a rich narrative and engaging gameplay. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to start and complete this quest.

How to Start Bad Blood in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

To embark on the "Bad Blood" quest, continue with the main storyline until you're tasked with finding Mutt. During this quest, you'll visit a clearing near Bozhena's hut. Engage with Henry's comment about checking with Bozhena, and head to her hut. Upon asking about Mutt, Bozhena will reveal that her daughter Pavlena is missing. Agree to assist her, which will officially add the "Bad Blood" quest to your journal.

Gather Information

Begin by traveling to Troskowitz and speaking with Bailiff Thrush. Next, visit Innkeeper Betty at the local tavern for additional insights into Bozhena and Pavlena's situation and their strained relations with the village. Then, proceed to the designated area to speak with the woodcutters. Find Woodcutter Dushko, who will point you towards Roman's house. Remember to save your game before attempting to lockpick the door to Roman's house.

Inside, investigate Pavlena's basket, then return to Dushko for further details. He will guide you to a clearing near Roman's house, a favored spot for the couple.

Search the Scene

From Roman's house, follow the objective marker down the hill to the stream. Turn left at the two large boulders to discover the scene. Follow the blood trail to Roman's body, then continue uphill to find Hogherd Hugo. After speaking with Hugo, return to Troskowitz and engage with Hired Hand Straw. Pass the dialogue check with Straw to uncover details about Jakesh and the true events surrounding Roman and Pavlena.

You can also consult with Thrush about Straw's fate. Once done, proceed to the rocks just south of Zhelejov to further your investigation.

Confront Ota

Confront Ota in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Navigate to the objective area and circle the large boulder until you find a path. Ascend the ladder to encounter Ota and Pavlena. To successfully negotiate Pavlena's release, you'll need high Charisma and should select these dialogue options:

  • “What’s your name?”
  • “Let her go and I’ll let you go.”
  • “I’ll put in a good word for you with His Lordship.”

Once Ota releases Pavlena, she will kill him. Converse with Pavlena and return to Bozhena together. Bozhena will then request that you deal with Jakesh.

Kill Jakesh or Make Peace

Decision point in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

For the final stage, head back to the farm and locate Jakesh at his child's grave. You have the option to kill him or negotiate peace between him and Bozhena. Alternatively, you could choose to kill Bozhena, though this will conclude the quest differently.

In my playthrough, I opted to kill Jakesh and then reported back to Bozhena to receive a reward.

Should You Kill Jakesh?

Opting to kill Jakesh will lower your reputation in Troskowitz but significantly boost it with Bozhena and Pavlena. You'll gain a new dialogue option with Pavlena and receive a necklace, a gift from Roman.

If you choose to spare Jakesh and broker peace, Jakesh will offer you 100 groschen. When reporting back to Bozhena, you can either keep the money or share it with her. This choice also allows Bozhena and Pavlena to reintegrate into the settlement.
