Embark on a virtual journey through the vibrant landscapes of Japan with the latest expansion for Ticket to Ride, brought to you by Marmalade Game Studio and Asmodee Entertainment. The Japan Expansion introduces the iconic Japan map to digital platforms, but with a twist that sets it apart from the classic board game experience.
Help Build the Train Network
For the first time, players can contribute to constructing a national Bullet Train network in a semi-cooperative setting. Unlike the original game where you solely focused on your own empire, here you'll work together, albeit with a strategic edge. You can choose to let others shoulder the burden of building the network while you accumulate points. However, beware of the game's karma system, which will penalize you by deducting 20 points if you shirk your Bullet Train duties. This means you'll need to strike a balance between helping out and pursuing your own goals.
The Japan Expansion also introduces two new characters to enrich the gameplay experience. Meet Nakanishi Kimiko, a travel blogger who adds a modern touch to the game as she explores Japan's festival circuit with her dog. Then there's Moriyama Isamu, a gyōji or sumo referee, who infuses the game with Japan's rich cultural heritage, going beyond mere maps and trains.
Ticket to Ride Has Upgraded Trains with the Japan Expansion
Enhance your collection with the addition of two new trains and two carriages. The Ichi Eki Saki train and the Tsuki Sleeper carriage are perfect for those seeking a more relaxed travel experience. On the other hand, the Isogaba Maware train and the Hayai carriage cater to those who prefer speed and efficiency.
As spring arrives, the Japan map promises to offer a visually appealing experience with its seasonal charm. The Japan Expansion is now available for download, ready to add a fresh twist to your Ticket to Ride sessions. You can find it on the Google Play Store.
