A Noir-Inspired Intergalactic Mystery
Developed as a gritty detective story drawing inspiration from True Detective and Slow Horses, Lanterns follows the unlikely partnership between Chandler's seasoned Hal Jordan and Pierre's John Stewart as they investigate a murder that unravels into a cosmic conspiracy. The series serves as a cornerstone of James Gunn's interconnected DC Universe, alongside Creature Commandos, the Superman reboot, and the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow film.
Screenwriter Damon Lindelof (Lost, Watchmen) collaborates with Chris Mundy and comic writer Tom King to craft what Gunn describes as "a grounded, believable take that redefines expectations for a Green Lantern adaptation."
Star Power Behind the Power Rings
Chandler brings his Friday Night Lights dramatic chops to an older, grizzled version of Hal Jordan, while rising star Pierre (Rebel Ridge) makes his mark as the disciplined Marine-turned-Lantern John Stewart. The series is currently in production with a targeted 2026 premiere, aligning with the theatrical release of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Additional credits include executive producers Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, who previously developed Green Lantern properties for DC Entertainment. The show will reportedly explore the psychological toll of wielding cosmic power while maintaining law and order across the universe.
