Metro 15th Anniversary Updates
Metro 2033 Redux Free Until April 16
To mark its 15th anniversary, the Metro series is giving away Metro 2033 Redux for free for just 48 hours. Developer 4A Games announced on the official Metro Twitter/X account that the game will be free on Steam and Xbox until April 16 at 3 PM UTC.
The team wants to give newcomers an opportunity to experience the game that started it all. The studio also shared update plans for the anniversary in a March 16 post on their official website.
The announcement stated: "Throughout this year, we'll be hosting special events, deals, and anniversary content across Metro's social media channels to thank our loyal players for joining us on this incredible journey."
Ukrainian-based 4A Games (with additional studios in Malta) drew inspiration from Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky's science fiction novels, particularly Metro 2033 and its sequels.
Despite ongoing challenges, the developers remain committed to addressing relevant themes: "While the situation remains difficult and beyond our control, our team is currently safe. We ask for patience regarding the next Metro title - it will be revealed when ready."
The Next Metro Game
4A Games confirmed they're developing two major projects: the next Metro installment and an original IP. While details about the new IP remain scarce, they shared insights about the upcoming Metro game.
The conflict in Ukraine has significantly influenced the next Metro's development: "The 2022 invasion changed how we approach the next Metro's narrative. As our Ukrainian developers experienced war firsthand, we've incorporated these real-world experiences to create an even more powerful, relevant story."
Despite current challenges, 4A Games remains dedicated to crafting impactful narratives that mirror reality. The studio promises that the next chapter in the Metro saga will be their most compelling yet when it launches.
