Dr. Disrespect's Midnight Society Shuts Down, Cancels Deadrop
Gaming studio Midnight Society, co-founded by streamer Guy "Dr. Disrespect" Beahm, has announced its closure and the cancellation of its anticipated FPS game, Deadrop.
The studio shared the news via X, stating, "Today we are announcing Midnight Society will be closing its doors after three incredible years, with an amazing team of over 55 developers." The announcement included a plea for employment opportunities for its talented team members.
Midnight Society was established by Beahm alongside industry veterans Robert Bowling (Call of Duty) and Quinn Delhoy (Halo). Deadrop, their flagship free-to-play PvPvE extraction shooter, was slated for a 2024 release but ultimately failed to meet its target.

Following Dr. Disrespect's departure from the studio in 2024 due to a controversy involving inappropriate messages sent via Twitch Whispers, development on Deadrop continued until its recent termination.
The game was set in a unique, retro-futuristic universe described as "the 80s never ending," featuring characters sporting Daft Punk-inspired helmets and wielding both firearms and melee weapons.
Midnight Society's closure adds to the growing list of studios facing challenges in the current difficult climate for the games industry, joining companies like Ubisoft, BioWare, and Phoenix Labs who have also experienced layoffs or closures.
