Mother Nature: EcoDash: A Fun, Eco-Conscious Endless Runner
Dive into Mother Nature: EcoDash, a new endless runner for Android with a powerful message. Developed by BOM (Birmingham Open Media), a UK-based immersive arts organization, this game tackles pollution head-on in a unique and engaging way.
The game's development is a remarkable collaboration between BOM and a group of girls aged 11-18 from Powered by CAN, a youth project. Their creative input shaped the game's art style and mechanics, resulting in a truly collaborative and inspiring project.
What Makes EcoDash Unique?
Players take on the role of Mother Nature, a Black female scientist, tasked with cleaning up a polluted city and rescuing endangered animals. She's pursued by Smog, a villain intent on environmental destruction. Gameplay involves running, jumping, collecting air purifiers, and managing a smog meter to avoid being overwhelmed by toxic clouds.
Beyond the core running and jumping mechanics, EcoDash incorporates rescue missions. Throughout the city, players encounter endangered animals needing help. Successfully reaching the rainforest allows for their safe release back into their natural habitat.
BOM's vision for the game was to present complex issues like climate change and air pollution in a fun and accessible manner. The game is packed with power-ups, shields, and bonus items to aid players on their mission.
