Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
Square Enix marked NieR’s 15th Anniversary with a series of announcements, including new projects and events. During the livestream on April 19, they unveiled the online Special Novel titled [U]ndecided Option. This novel will feature three updates, with the first already available and the next two scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The story teases, “Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided.”
To keep fans engaged, Square Enix also launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website. This site will serve as the hub for the online special novel and other related projects and events celebrating the milestone.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork of the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Further details on tickets and other information will be released soon.
For music lovers, additional performances of the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 are scheduled for Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are available through a lottery system, with more information on the official concert website.
Merchandise enthusiasts can look forward to an album featuring newly recorded studio jazz arrangements from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024. Additionally, a NieR Weapon Story book, containing over 650 stories from the weapons in Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, along with scale figures of the series' protagonists, have been announced.
Re[in]carnation Developer Blog
Starting April 28, NieR Re[in]carnation, the first mobile title in the NieR series, will launch a developer blog series. Monthly updates will be released throughout the year, offering insights into the development process behind Re[in]carnation.
Originally launched in January 2021, the game was discontinued in April 2024 due to monetization challenges. The sudden announcement of a developer blog for the now-closed game has sparked speculation among fans about a potential sequel or remake, though no official word has been released yet.
