Bethesda confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered lacks official mod support, yet passionate fans have already rolled out several unofficial mods.

A selection of community-created mods appeared on Nexus Mods shortly after Bethesda and Virtuos’ surprise Oblivion re-release launched on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. While these mods focus on minor tweaks, they highlight the unmatched dedication of The Elder Scrolls modding community.

As of this report, 22 mods are live on the platform. The earliest mod lets PC players swap the default Oblivion Remastered desktop shortcut with one of two Adoring Fan images. Others allow players to bypass the Bethesda and Virtuos logo intros, while some, like a tweak to the Wizard’s Fury spell or a mod removing the compass, dive into gameplay customization.

Despite Bethesda’s usual embrace of modding, the company stated that Oblivion Remastered won’t support official mods. This was clarified in an FAQ on its website.

Meanwhile, Nexus Mods user GodschildGaming shared their Iron Longsword damage mod to demonstrate that modding remains viable.

“This shows modding is still possible,” they wrote in the mod’s description. “Bethesda claims no mod support, but that’s not true. It’s Unreal layered over Oblivion, with the data folder buried deeper, but the concept holds.”
