People Can Fly, the renowned developer behind Bulletstorm and co-developer of the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, has recently inked a significant deal with Sony Interactive Entertainment. This collaboration will see the creation of a new game, codenamed Project Delta, which is set to be developed as a work-for-hire project. While the specifics of Project Delta remain under wraps, the announcement has sparked considerable interest within the gaming community.
The studio is currently juggling an impressive lineup of projects, each with intriguing codenames. Alongside Project Delta, they are working on Project Gemini in partnership with Square Enix—a title that faced setbacks with 30 developers being laid off last year. Project Echo is another venture, this time with Krafton, while Project Red also appears to be in collaboration with Sony. Adding to their diverse portfolio, People Can Fly recently announced that Project Bison would mark their final foray into VR gaming.
The past year has been a rollercoaster for People Can Fly. In December, they suspended work on Project Victoria and scaled down Project Bifrost. Earlier, in April, they made the tough decision to cancel Project Dagger, which was planned as an action-adventure game in partnership with Take-Two Interactive.
Despite these setbacks, People Can Fly remains robust with a total of eight projects currently in development. This includes the eagerly awaited Gears of War: E-Day, developed in partnership with The Coalition, though a release date for this title has yet to be announced. Meanwhile, Project Gemini, their collaboration with Square Enix, is slated for a 2026 release, promising another exciting addition to their growing catalog.
