Two Persona 4 Actors Confirm They Won't Return for Unannounced Remake

Author : Amelia Jun 11,2025

As of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding a *Persona 4* remake. However, recent developments have sparked fresh speculation—particularly after several original English voice actors revealed they won't be returning for what fans are calling the "Persona 4 remake."

Earlier this week, Yuri Lowenthal, the original voice of Yosuke Hanamura, posted on BlueSky (now deleted) that he would not be reprising his role. “And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake,” he stated. “I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back.”

Not long after, Erin Fitzgerald, who voiced Chie Satonaka, confirmed she had not been contacted about returning. Shortly thereafter, Amanda Winn Lee also shared that she wouldn't be reprising her role as Yukiko Amagi.

“Since, I've had several people ask me: No, I wasn't asked to voice Yukiko in the P4 remake.”

Their announcements arriving in quick succession—and in the exact order the characters join your party—has led some fans to believe there may be more going on behind the scenes. Could this be a coordinated marketing strategy? One fan on Twitter/X speculated just that:

“This is definitely a marketing stunt
First Yosuke
Then Chie
Now Yukiko
They're talking in order of who joins the party in p4. They're definitely in P4 remake.”

Some even took it a step further, suggesting that if either Troy Baker or Matt Mercer (both of whom have voiced Kanji Tatsumi) were to make a similar announcement, it could hint at an elaborate ruse—perhaps even involving Shadow versions of the characters. While such theories are entertaining and loosely tied to the game’s themes, most fans remain skeptical and lean toward more practical explanations.

Possible reasons for the recasting could include the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, budget considerations, or simply Atlus's creative direction. The studio previously recast several roles for *Persona 3: Reload*, including Yuri Lowenthal’s character.

With rumors continuing to build momentum and a mysterious domain registration fueling anticipation, many are hopeful for an official reveal soon. Events like Summer Game Fest or the upcoming Xbox showcase could provide the perfect stage for such an announcement.
