The Pokémon Company has exciting news for North American fans: the Pokémon Fossil Museum is set to open its doors in Chicago's Field Museum on May 22, 2026. This marks the first time this unique exhibition, which debuted in Japan, will be available outside of its home country. The museum promises a fascinating juxtaposition of Pokémon "fossils" alongside real-world ancient lifeforms, offering visitors a chance to explore the intriguing connections between fantasy and science.

At the Pokémon Fossil Museum, attendees will have the opportunity to marvel at vibrant Pokémon models displayed next to extinct lifeforms from the Field Museum's collection. Highlights include scientific casts of renowned Field Museum dinosaurs like SUE the T. rex and the Chicago Archaeopteryx, showcased alongside Fossil Pokémon such as Tyrantrum and Archeops. The museum invites Pokémon Trainers to spot the differences and similarities between these ancient creatures and their favorite Pokémon.
