There's an exciting new chapter coming to the Plague Tale universe—Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy has been officially unveiled at the Xbox Games Showcase, and it’s set for a 2026 release.
This brand-new entry serves as a prequel to the original Plague Tale games, taking place a full 15 years before the events of the first title. It follows Sophia, a young scavenger on the run, who finds herself stranded on Minotaur's Island. As she struggles to survive, Sophia must uncover the island’s mysterious past, piece together her own identity, and evade those who are hunting her. The game’s narrative weaves between two distinct time periods—the Middle Ages and ancient Minoa—offering a layered storytelling experience.
Players will find themselves navigating a deadly labyrinth filled with perilous traps and intricate puzzles, blending survival gameplay with atmospheric exploration. If you're familiar with the series, you know that tension, stealth mechanics, and immersive world-building are core elements—and this installment promises to deliver more of what fans love.

The game is being developed through a continued collaboration between Focus Entertainment Publishing and Asobo Studio, the creative minds behind previous entries in the franchise. Slated for release in 2026, Resonance will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. Great news for Game Pass subscribers—it will launch day one on Xbox Game Pass.
We’ve long been fans of the series here. We awarded Innocence a 7/10, praising its "compelling story" and refined stealth gameplay, though noting that the rat-infested world sometimes looks more threatening than it feels. Then came Requiem, which earned an 8/10 from us, described as “an impressive sequel to one of my favorite action-adventure games,” raising the bar across nearly every aspect.
