Ryan Reynolds has cast doubt on the chances of Deadpool joining either the Avengers or the X-Men, stating that being part of either team would mean the character was "at the end." Given the massive success of Deadpool & Wolverine and Deadpool's obsession with joining the Avengers in the film, many speculated that Marvel Studios would be eager to see the 'Merc with a Mouth' team up with icons like Captain America and Professor X, potentially featuring in next year's Avengers: Doomsday.
Last month's Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal was packed with veteran X-Men actors. Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden are all confirmed to appear, signaling a significant X-Men presence in the film. Grammer, who played Beast in the Fox X-Men franchise, made his MCU debut in The Marvels' post-credits scene. Stewart portrayed Charles Xavier/Professor X in the X-Men films and briefly appeared in the MCU in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as part of the Illuminati. McKellen, who played Magneto, has yet to appear in the MCU, as have Cumming (Nightcrawler), Romijn (Mystique), and Marsden (Cyclops). This raises the question: is Avengers: Doomsday secretly an Avengers vs. X-Men movie?
However, Reynolds' name was absent from the long list of stars confirmed for the superhero extravaganza, though Channing Tatum, who played Gambit in *Deadpool & Wolverine*, did make the cut. Reynolds' recent comments suggest that a formal promotion of Deadpool to the Avengers or X-Men isn't likely. "If Deadpool becomes an Avenger or an X-Man, we're at the end," Reynolds told *Time*. "That's wish fulfillment, and you can't give him that."Reynolds hinted that a surprise appearance by Deadpool in a supporting role might be more fitting, referencing the positive fan reception to Wesley Snipes' cameo as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine. As for what's next for Deadpool, Reynolds mentioned he's currently writing a new project involving an "ensemble," but he remained tight-lipped about the details.
"I'm writing a little something right now, that's, I don't know, it's an ensemble," Reynolds added. "But, I like that [Deadpool] is isolated." This could hint at another Deadpool movie that heavily features cameos, similar to Deadpool & Wolverine. Potential cameos could include Snipes' Blade, and Channing Tatum might return as Gambit. Other characters from the film, like Jennifer Garner's Elektra and Dafne Keen's Laura Kinney/X-23, could also be involved.

As for Avengers: Doomsday, apart from the cast list, details remain scarce. Anthony Mackie, who will reprise his role as Sam Wilson/Captain America, recently stated that the film aims to "give the audience that old Marvel feeling that they always had." Mackie joins other cast members like Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) and Joseph Quinn (Human Torch) in discussing the upcoming Marvel epic. An alleged set photo leak stirred the MCU fandom, with some suggesting it might spell trouble for the X-Men.
Speculation is also rife that Oscar Isaac could appear as Moon Knight in Avengers: Doomsday, especially after he withdrew from this month's Star Wars Celebration due to scheduling conflicts. Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige confirmed that the Avengers livestream did not reveal the entire cast of Doomsday — "We revealed many, not all," he stated during a video call at CinemaCon.
