My engagement with Pokemon TCG Pocket tends to ebb and flow. I dive in enthusiastically with each new set release, staying hooked while there are Emblems to be earned for achieving around 40 wins. Once that goal is met, my routine shifts to daily log-ins where I open my packs, indulge in a Wonder Pick for fun, and then set the game aside until the next day. This cycle is set to reignite with the arrival of the latest expansion, Shining Revelry, slated for release on March 27th.
This exciting new expansion will bring 110 fresh cards into the TCG Pocket universe, featuring a blend of new Ex Pokemon, Trainer cards, and the visually stunning art cards that fans adore. The highlight of Shining Revelry, hinted at by its name, is the introduction of Shiny Pokemon. These are unique, differently colored versions of your favorite Pokemon characters. For instance, you'll see Lucario in a striking yellow hue instead of its usual blue, and Pachirisu adorned with a charming pink stripe.
The trailer, which you can view below, offers a tantalizing preview of what's to come. A standout card is the new Shiny Charizard Ex, boasting 180 HP and a powerful attack, Steam Artillery, which inflicts a massive 150 damage. However, it requires a hefty five energy to execute. On the upside, its other move, Stoke, allows you to attach three Fire Energy cards in a single turn, making it a formidable asset in your deck.
Another exciting addition is the Lucario Ex, which steps up from its supporting role in the previous Space-Time Smackdown expansion to a more aggressive combatant. With 150 HP, it might not be the tankiest, but its Aura Sphere attack is a game-changer. For just three Fighting Energy, it delivers 100 damage to the active Pokemon and an additional 30 to one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon.
The trailer also teases other cards that, while not groundbreaking, add delightful variety to the set. Shiny versions of Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom are set to make their debut, each with their unique charm. Additionally, a visually captivating Tatsugiri art rare is on the list, one that I'm eager to add to my digital collection.
