Silent Hill f Steam Deck Compatible, But Not Quite Verified

Silent Hill f is set to be playable on the Steam Deck, though it will require some fine-tuning. Dive deeper into Valve’s classification of Silent Hill f for the Steam Deck and the game’s PC requirements to understand what you might need to do.

Silent Hill f Official Testing Results For Steam Deck Released

Playable But Requires Configuration

Valve's official testing confirms that Silent Hill f can be played on the Steam Deck. However, it falls short of the "verified" status because some tweaks are necessary for optimal compatibility with the handheld. To achieve "verified" status, a game must seamlessly integrate with the Steam Deck's controls and display, passing Valve’s stringent tests for input, display, seamlessness, and system support.

The tests show that Silent Hill f is fully functional with the default controller settings on the Steam Deck and displays the correct controller icons. Yet, some in-game text may be too small and hard to read. Manual adjustments are needed to ensure the game runs smoothly on the device.

This is a significant step forward compared to the Silent Hill 2 Remake, which initially lacked support for the Steam Deck, even after patches. With no official release date announced for Silent Hill f yet, there's still time for Konami to refine its performance.

PC System Requirements

Konami unveiled the PC requirements for Silent Hill f on the Steam store page last month, giving us insights into its performance on the Steam Deck. Below are the detailed minimum and recommended specifications for the game.

To meet the minimum requirements, an NVIDIA GTX 1070 is needed to run the game at 720p with 30fps on Performance Quality settings. Given the Steam Deck’s GPU capabilities, you might experience a slight dip in performance compared to these minimum specs. While 720p on the Steam Deck might still be acceptable, the difference could be more noticeable if you connect your device to an HD TV. Konami also recommends using an SSD.

For the recommended specs, you can opt for either Performance settings at 60fps or Quality settings at 30fps, both of which require an SSD.

The Silent Hill Transmission from March 13 provided a glimpse into what fans can anticipate from the game. Silent Hill f is now available for wishlisting on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
