Sega Delays Sonic Rumble for Updates

Author : Adam Jan 22,2026
  • Sonic Rumble's release has been postponed
  • Version 1.2 update brings significant new features
  • Developer Q&A scheduled on Discord

Though Sonic Rumble dazzled fans with a crossover event featuring Super Monkey Ball and Altered Beast, its worldwide launch is delayed. The battle royale title, which garnered 1.4 million pre-registrations, was poised for release but will now arrive later than expected.

The delay allows the team to implement update 1.2, introducing game-changing elements to Dr. Eggman's toybox world. New features like Rumble Rankings, Crews, and character Skills will enhance strategic depth beyond pure chaotic competition.

Rumble Rankings offers seasonal leaderboard climbs with rewards, Crews enable cooperative score missions with friends, while the Skills system provides characters with unique strategic abilities.

Sega chose to delay rather than rush these features, prioritizing quality. Fans can get updates during the May 2nd Discord Q&A, where developers will address player questions about the game's future.

While waiting, consider trying these top iOS battle royale games currently available!

The postponement doesn't erase existing momentum - all pre-registration bonuses remain intact, including 5,000 Rings, Crystal Chao Buddy, Happy Sticker, Garnet Knuckles skin, and the Movie Sonic skin unlocked at 1.4 million signups. Players will start strong when launch arrives.

With the new release window, pre-registration remains open through the links below. Sonic Rumble will be free-to-play with optional purchases. Check the official site for full details.
