Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse actor Jharrel Jerome has tempered expectations for Beyond the Spider-Verse's imminent release, revealing he hasn't even begun voice recording yet.

Jerome told Decider that production on the anticipated trilogy finale remains in early stages as creative decisions are still being finalized. This delay aligns with the franchise's development timeline—the sequel arrived five years after 2018's Into the Spider-Verse.

"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about production progress. "We haven't started yet. Many elements are still being finalized, but exciting developments are coming."

While Jerome's role was limited in Across the Spider-Verse, ***spoiler alert*** he's poised to become the third film's primary antagonist as Miles G. Morales/Earth-42's Prowler. This alternate-reality version of Miles never received his spider powers when the radioactive spider crossed dimensions to bite our protagonist instead.

In Earth-42's timeline, without Spider-Man to protect New York after Peter Parker's death, Miles G. Morales embraced the criminal path as the Prowler. The inevitable clash between this villainous Miles and our heroic Spider-Man Miles will likely form Beyond the Spider-Verse's central conflict.

According to Deadline, the earliest projected release window extends to 2026, though following the previous installment's five-year gap would push the premiere to 2028. Either scenario confirms fans face a substantial wait for resolution.
