Stardew Valley 2 Considered, But Easier to Expand Original Game

Author : Chloe May 25,2025

Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, the mastermind behind Stardew Valley, has hinted at the possibility of creating a sequel, tentatively titled "Stardew Valley 2." While this news might send fans into a frenzy, Barone also shared some sobering thoughts during an interview with TigerBelly. He explained that it's far simpler to enhance the existing game with new content than to start from scratch with an entirely new title. "It's all the systems—all the major systems—are already all done. That’s the stuff that’s not fun to do," Barone noted, emphasizing how updates allow him to inject whimsical elements like "green rain" into Stardew Valley with relative ease.

Despite the allure of a sequel, Barone remains non-committal, stating, "I might eventually make a Stardew Valley 2, to be honest," according to Nintendo Life. This cautious approach stems from his desire not to be pigeonholed as solely "the Stardew Valley guy." Currently, he's channeling his creative energies into his next project, Haunted Chocolatier. However, fans shouldn't hold their breath for a release date, as Barone admitted there's "still a lot to be done" and he wants it to surpass the excellence of Stardew Valley.
