DC's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Commences Filming; First Look at Milly Alcock Revealed
Production has officially begun on DC's highly anticipated film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. To mark the occasion, DC Studios head James Gunn unveiled a first look at Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) as Kara Zor-El, the titular Supergirl.
The image, shared on Bluesky, shows Alcock seated in her director's chair, offering a sneak peek at the character. Gunn expressed his excitement, confirming Craig Gillespie (Cruella, I, Tonya) is directing the project, as previously reported.
The film is heavily inspired by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira's graphic novel of the same name. This standalone story follows Ruthye Marye Knoll, an alien girl seeking Supergirl's aid in avenging her father's murder at the hands of the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. The graphic novel received an Eisner Award nomination for "Best Limited Series" in 2022.
Casting announcements include Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem and Eve Ridley as Ruthye. Further cast members include David Krumholtz as Zor-El (Supergirl's father), Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother, and Jason Momoa, reprising his role as Lobo within the rebooted DC universe.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow marks the second film in the newly established DC Universe, following James Gunn's Superman movie slated for release this summer.
