Tim Burton's Batman Returns in Remastered Dolby Cinema

Author : Christopher Oct 18,2025

Tim Burton's Batman films remain beloved classics among the Dark Knight's many cinematic interpretations – and now fans will experience them anew during special one-night screenings at select Dolby Cinema locations nationwide.

On August 25th, remastered versions of 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns will screen exclusively at 160 Dolby Cinemas across the country. These influential films feature Michael Keaton's iconic portrayal of Gotham's protector, alongside an all-star supporting cast including Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, and Michelle Pfeiffer.

"After decades away from these films, seeing them restored with such incredible clarity and richness felt like an entirely new experience," Burton shared with Variety regarding the Dolby remaster. "Dolby Atmos and Vision technologies breathed fresh life into these movies in ways I never imagined possible."

Notably, Batman Returns holds a special place in audio history – it was the first theatrical release presented in Dolby Digital, the revolutionary sound format that transformed both cinema and home entertainment systems throughout the 90s and early 2000s.

"Burton's Batman films helped define the superhero genre," stated Dolby's VP of global content Michelle Maddalena. "Presenting these masterpieces in Dolby Vision and Atmos not only pays tribute to Burton's visionary style but demonstrates how dramatically film presentation technology has advanced."
