This guide aims to equip players with the best builds for The Shape, including both teachable and non-teachable perks, catering to players of all experience levels to maximize their gameplay.
Updated on January 13, 2025, by Siddarth Narasimman: Although Michael Myers is often considered one of the weaker Killers in Dead by Daylight, his enduring popularity among new players remains unshaken. The recent enhancements in Patch 8.4.0 have significantly bolstered his capabilities, making him a more viable option. With these updates, it's the perfect time for players to explore the best builds and add-ons for this iconic horror character.
The Shape: Best Non-Teachable Build (2025)
Mastering The Shape without other Killers' perks can be challenging but far from impossible. This build leverages Save the Best for Last to swiftly end chases, while Sloppy Butcher slows the game down passively. Bitter Murmur and Hex: No One Escapes Death enable a devastating endgame, eliminating the need to stalk for instant downs.
- Save the Best for Last (The Shape) – Gain a token for each Survivor hit who isn't the Obsession, up to eight tokens. Each token reduces basic attack cooldown by 4%, up to 32%. Hitting the Obsession removes two tokens.
- Hex: No One Escapes Death (General Perk) – Once the final generator is completed, all Survivors are afflicted with the Exposed status, and you gain a 4% Haste effect until the Hex Totem is cleansed.
- Bitter Murmur (General Perk) – After each generator completion, reveal the auras of Survivors within 16 meters for 5 seconds. Upon the last generator's completion, reveal all Survivors' auras for 10 seconds.
- Sloppy Butcher (General Perk) – Inflict Mangled and Hemorrhage status effects with basic attacks, slowing healing by 25% and regressing healing progress if left incomplete.
The Shape: Best Build (2025)
This build is designed to hinder generator progress and provide a strong start for The Shape, who suffers from limited map mobility and struggles in the early game. By focusing on a cluster of generators and using Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance and Deadlock, you can effectively control the game's pace. Lethal Pursuer helps quickly locate Survivors for early stalking, while Coup de Grâce enhances The Shape's ability to navigate loops.
- Lethal Pursuer (The Nemesis) – At the match's start, see all Survivors' auras for nine seconds. All aura-reading effects last two seconds longer.
- Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist) – Start with four tokens. Each unique Survivor hooked on a white Scourge Hook consumes a token and causes the generator with the most progress to lose 25% of its progress.
- Deadlock (The Cenobite) – When a generator is completed, block the generator with the most progress for 25 seconds, revealing it with a white aura.
- Coup de Grâce (The Twins) – Gain two tokens per completed generator. Use a token to increase lunge attack distance by 80%.
The Shape: Best Add-Ons (2025)
Memorial Flower
At common rarity, the Memorial Flower stands out as the best add-on for The Shape. It offers a modest but helpful 11% increase in stalking rate, enhancing The Shape’s effectiveness in tracking Survivors.
Dead Rabbit
Though it might seem like a risky trade, the Dead Rabbit reduces the Terror Radius by 25% in Evil Within II. However, it increases the Terror Radius in Evil Within III, making it crucial to pair it with perks like Monitor and Abuse to manage early Survivor alerts.
J. Myers Memorial
Ranked as The Shape's second-best add-on, the J. Myers Memorial grants a 25% bonus to stalking gain rate. It's commonly used with the Tombstone Piece to mitigate the increased time required to reach Evil Within III.
Hair Bow
Enhancing The Shape's threat level during Evil Within III, the Hair Bow is a potent add-on. When combined with the J. Myers Memorial, it ensures consistent pressure across the map with multiple Evil Within III activations.
Tombstone Piece
Considered The Shape’s most powerful add-on, the Tombstone Piece enables instant kills upon reaching Evil Within III, regardless of Survivors' hook states. This ability can decisively shift the game's momentum and outperforms the Ultra Rare Judith’s Tombstone by avoiding the accompanying speed debuff.
Lock Of Hair
Adding 40 additional seconds to Evil Within III and boosting the stalk rate, the Lock of Hair is a strong contender. While the Hair Bow is generally preferred, the Lock of Hair is a viable alternative, especially when paired with Lethal Pursuer and J. Myers Memorial.
Fragrant Tuft of Hair
Despite a significant 200% reduction in stalking rate, the Fragrant Tuft of Hair offers infinite Evil Within III. This add-on allows you to maintain constant pressure and instantly down Survivors without needing to stalk them first.
