Torchlight: Infinite has just unveiled the details of its highly anticipated next chapter, Season 8: Sandlord, set to launch on April 17th. This season promises to be a significant departure from the norm, introducing a host of fresh and exciting content to the action RPG genre.
In Season 8, players will transcend the traditional monster-grinding gameplay and step into the realm of empire-building with the innovative Sandlord mechanic. The newly introduced Cloud Oasis will be the centerpiece of this season, allowing players to dive into economic gameplay. Here, you'll trade resources, manage workers, and oversee production lines to construct your very own aerial stronghold. This economic twist adds a layer of strategy and management to the gameplay, making it more engaging and dynamic.
Returning with a new twist is Thea, now sporting the Blasphemer trait. This season, Thea trades her divine powers for the curse of Desecration. Starting off weak, this curse scales powerfully, enhancing Erosion damage as her blessing power diminishes. Players can further customize this trait into area of effect explosions or health-scaling effects, ideal for those who relish damage-over-time mechanics and intricate build synergies.
Endgame content in Torchlight: Infinite is also receiving a major overhaul. Deep Space, a fan-favorite area, has been completely reworked to include five new stages, expanded maps, and more challenging enemies. Players can now adjust the level of risk and reward with the new Probes system, where each Probe increases the difficulty but also the potential for better loot, including the coveted Compass chests through the Compass Probe.
The update doesn't stop there. A new Blending System for belt crafting has been introduced, enabling players to fuse Hero Traits, Talent nodes, and unique affixes into a single item slot. This system deepens the possibilities for character builds. Additionally, a formidable new boss, Night Slayer – The Wilting Plume, has been added to the Plane Watcher and the 20th floor of Supreme Showdown, promising intense battles and thrilling encounters.
To celebrate the launch of Season 8, the Sands of Fortune anniversary event will run from April 17th to May 1st. Players can participate in tasks, earn Gold Rush Attempts, and compete for a share of a $250,000 prize pool, adding an extra layer of excitement and competition to the season.
