Xbox Game Pass: Unbeatable Value for RPG Enthusiasts

Author : Ryan May 14,2025

As a long-time PC gamer, I've always found the allure of Steam sales irresistible, keeping my gaming library fresh without breaking the bank. Xbox Game Pass, while intriguing, never seemed like a necessity—until now. The unexpected launch of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered by Bethesda and Virtuos directly onto Game Pass, coupled with the imminent arrival of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from Sandfall Interactive, has completely changed my perspective.

The revelation and immediate release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on April 22 across PC, consoles, and Game Pass was a delightful surprise. I spent the day downloading and the night immersing myself in its beautifully remastered world. The game boasts new character models, enhanced combat interactions, and upgraded visual effects. While the dialogue retains its charming original quirkiness, with over five new voice actors, the base edition of the remaster is priced at $49.99, including both original DLCs. A deluxe edition is available for $10 more.

On the other hand, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the debut title from French studio Sandfall Interactive, launches at midnight PST tonight in the U.S. It has already garnered a 92 rating on Metacritic, with IGN awarding it a 9/10 for its compelling story design, calling it "a true modern throwback." The game's stylish UI evokes memories of the Persona series, and its turn-based combat system is among the most innovative I've seen. Priced at $49.99, it matches the cost of the Bethesda remaster.

While Expedition 33 was positioned as the highlight of April’s Game Pass lineup, the sudden drop of Oblivion Remastered has cast a bit of a shadow over its launch. However, from my viewpoint, this situation is like being offered two exceptional cakes. Thanks to Game Pass, I can enjoy both without spending $100 on separate purchases; instead, I opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now, the only real question is when I'll find time to step away from the screen.

Game Pass has been expanding its library with 2025's biggest titles, including Blue Prince, South of Midnight, and Avowed, alongside classics like GTA V and the entire Call of Duty series. There's truly something for everyone.

Game Pass Is a Ridiculously Good Deal Right Now

Game Pass Ultimate is priced at $19.99 per month and offers access to the complete Game Pass library on consoles, PC, and via cloud gaming. For PC-only gamers, the cost drops to $9.99 per month. The Standard and Core tiers, at $14.99 and $9.99 per month respectively, do not include day-one releases. With the last price increase in July 2024, and considering the caliber of games being added, another hike could be on the horizon.

While no current deals are available for Game Pass, securing a three-month subscription might protect you from future price increases.
