After a stellar Xbox Developer Direct to kick off 2025, the future looks bright for Microsoft and its impressive lineup of first-party studios. With the excitement surrounding Xbox game series at an all-time high, let's dive into which series have captured our hearts the most, whether from the glory days of the Xbox 360 or in anticipation of future releases on other platforms like PlayStation, as Microsoft continues to expand its library.
Thanks to Microsoft's acquisitions of Bethesda and Activision Blizzard, we have a rich selection of legendary game series to choose from. This tier list includes series associated with Xbox, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard, focusing on those with more than one entry. While not an exhaustive list, it covers series with current relevance and historical impact.
Here's a personal tier list, based on enjoyment over the years:
Simon Cardy's Xbox Games Series Tier List
S Tier:
- Doom: The recent entries have solidified Doom's place among the best first-person shooters. The upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages promises to maintain this high standard.
- Forza Horizon: Arguably the best racing games ever played, second only to classics like Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge.
A Tier:
- Halo: While Halo 2 and Halo 3 are iconic campaign shooters, recent inconsistencies prevent it from reaching the top tier.
- Fallout: A preference for power armor over dragons places Fallout above Elder Scrolls in my book.
Do you disagree? Perhaps you think Gears of War is Xbox's crown jewel or have a soft spot for Fuzion Frenzy? Feel free to create your own tier list and compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the IGN community.
