Nonograms, also called Hanjie, Griddlers, Picross, Japanese Crosswords, Pic-a-Pix, or Paint by Numbers, are logic puzzles where you reveal hidden images by filling grid cells based on numerical clues. These numbers indicate consecutive blocks of filled squares separated by gaps. For instance, a clue like "4 8 3" means three separate blocks of 4, 8, and 3 filled squares in that exact order, with at least one empty cell between them.
Solving these puzzles involves deciding which cells to fill and which to leave empty. Identifying empty spaces (called gaps) is just as crucial as marking filled ones (called blocks), as gaps help narrow down where numerical clue blocks can extend. Players often use dots or crosses to mark confirmed empty cells.
Never guess—only fill cells you can logically deduce. A single mistake can cascade and ruin the entire solution.
