Get ready for a blast from the past! HaoPlay Limited's Metal Slug: Awakening, a modern reimagining of the classic '90s run-and-gun series, is launching globally on July 18th, 2024, and pre-registration is now open.
What's the Buzz?
Metal Slug: Awakening updates the beloved franchise with stunning graphics and new gameplay mechanics while retaining the core elements that made the original series a hit. Initially teased in 2020 as Metal Slug Code: J by TiMi Studios, the game has undergone several refinements and name changes before its Southeast Asia release in late 2023. Now, it's finally ready for a worldwide launch.
For those unfamiliar with the franchise (though we doubt there are many!), Metal Slug is a Japanese run-and-gun series that debuted in 1996, created by Nazca Corporation and later expanding into a multimedia phenomenon. While previous mobile entries like Metal Slug Defense (2014), Metal Slug Attack (2016), and Metal Slug Commander (2020) paved the way, Awakening promises a significant upgrade.
Expect to revisit iconic characters and embark on thrilling new missions. Features include a World Adventure mode, 3-player cooperative Team-up battles, and challenging Roguelike elements.
