Thousand (1000) - Schnapsen

A classic three-player card game played with a 24-card deck.

The game currently uses the following rules:

- A player needs 880 points to declare a "barrel."

- Points are cleared after 3 unsuccessful attempts to play a barrel round.

- A player receives a "bolt" for scoring zero points in a round.

- Accumulating 3 bolts results in a 120-point penalty.

- If a player surrenders, they incur a penalty equal to the stated amount, and each of the other two players receives half of that sum.

The game supports the following settings:

- The victory target is set above 1000 points.

- Points are cleared if a player reaches exactly 555 or -555 points.

- The option to play a barrel round on one's own turn without bidding (see details below).

- A new card deal is triggered if the talon or a hand's point value falls below a set threshold.

- Ace marriages.

- A "golden round" variant.

- Combined barrel playing scenarios.

Playing a Barrel on Your "Own Turn":

A player with 880 points may initiate a barrel round if they have the "own turn."

A turn is considered "own" when the player holds the right to make the first bid.

In this case, the player automatically wins the bidding and takes the talon, regardless of other players' card strength.

An unsuccessful play results in a failed attempt and a 120-point penalty.

After three unsuccessful attempts, the player's points are reset.

If a player in a barrel does not have the "own turn," the round proceeds normally, but they score no points (and an unsuccessful attempt is not recorded).

It is also permitted for multiple players to simultaneously reach 880 points and be eligible for a barrel game.

In such a situation, the player who gets to play the barrel is determined by turn order.
