In the competitive multiplayer arena of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, capturing and sharing final kills has become a celebrated pastime among players. Among the plethora of clips, one stands out for its sheer ingenuity and precision.
The introduction of Ricochet Blades as ammo for the D1.3 Sector secondary weapon during the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles event has stirred considerable discussion. These blades, affectionately dubbed "pizzas" by the community, are notorious for their unpredictable trajectories as they ricochet off multiple surfaces.
A standout moment was captured by player kev99gh during a round of hardcore Search and Destroy on the Lowtown map. Kev99gh managed to bounce a Ricochet Blade out of the map and back inside, securing a one-hit kill on an enemy player peeking through a window. This clip, shared on Reddit by SpawnTubing, showcases what might be the longest Ricochet Blade kill to date. Kev99gh's strategic shot, launched from behind cover and tracked via the overhead map view, exemplifies the skill and precision required to master such a feat.
These elaborate bounce kills are not mere flukes. As SpawnTubing noted, players often practice for common camping spots, and the perfect timing of the enemy's peek as the "pizza" entered the window underscores the high skill ceiling of Black Ops 6. The community's reaction highlights the thrill and challenge these kills represent.
The Ricochet Blades have indeed sparked a bounce kill meta across Black Ops 6's various Multiplayer maps. While some players celebrate these kills, others find the bouncing blades frustrating and annoying. However, developer Treyarch has doubled down on the Ricochet Blades, buffing their physics and bouncing speeds in a recent update. The patch notes reflect these changes:
D1.3 SectorOur initial design for the D1.3 Sector Ricochet Blades revolved around quickly launching many high-speed blades, meant to perform best blind firing into enclosed spaces. We have been following your feedback and agree that, in practice, the use cases for this ammo type are too low. The Ricochet Blades will now do 100 damage to enable one-hit kills, and to compensate we are lowering the fire rate and projectile speed. We think the popularity of this ammo type will see some new interest with these changes and look forward to seeing more of your cross-map killcams in MP.
Ricochet Blades
- Increased damage from 75 to 100.
- Decreased rate of fire.
- Decreased projectile velocity.
- Improved bouncing speeds and physics.
With these adjustments, the dominance of the Ricochet Blades is poised to grow, especially as Season 3 approaches with the much-anticipated return of Verdansk to Warzone.
