REPO's Overcharge and Difficulty Scaling are Getting Major Tweaks, Says Developer

Exciting changes are on the horizon for REPO as the developers plan to refine the game's difficulty scaling by introducing new mechanics every 10 levels. Dive deeper into the upcoming updates, particularly the Overcharge mechanic, and discover what the developers have been working on during the game's open beta.

REPO Development Updates

Overcharge Overhaul

REPO recently conducted an open beta for their latest update, gathering valuable feedback from fans. The Overcharge mechanic, in particular, caught the attention of developer Semiwork.

The Overcharge feature empowers players to counter enemies by lifting and hurling them onto hard surfaces or away from their teammates. However, this ability comes with a catch: an overcharge meter that, once full, causes the player to explode.

Originally accessible from the beginning, the developers have decided to unlock Overcharge at level 10. Additionally, they aim to introduce new mechanics that increase difficulty at levels 20, 30, and beyond, with Overcharge serving as the initial challenge in this series.

These new mechanics will not only enhance gameplay but will also be woven into REPO's lore. As Semiwork's team explained, "So this system will also be tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this, and we will share more details in the future."

In an effort to connect with the community, developers from Semiwork participated in random matches during the open beta, engaging directly with players to gather insights on potential improvements. Pontus Sundstrom, a developer at Semiwork, expressed his satisfaction with the players' enjoyment of the new additions.

He noted, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." Sundstrom further shared, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."

With the wealth of feedback collected during the open beta, Semiwork is committed to enhancing REPO. Players can anticipate more exciting updates in the near future, as the developers have promised to reveal additional information soon.
